20 specimens were identified in 2003 on 14 dates between 11th July and 13th August. To date several specimens have been
identified. Last year when we were trying to identify them, emphasis was placed on the blackish underside of the hindwing,
all those with this proved to be Langmaid's (janthina). The first Langmaid,s this year at Barry's didn't have this, but had the
island of orange on the top surface of the hind wing and looked different. In 2003 although some looked different there was a
need for more substantial visual proof, and we concentrated more on the hind wing and underside features. Of the four so far
(21st July), picked out visually, and then confirmed with hindwing, two have been blackish underneath, the rest orange-ish,
similar to Lesser Broad-bordered (janthe).
