Species that needs to be reworked. In the early nineties when regular recording began, historically
maritima, compared to saxicola, was supposed to be the commoner, especially at Dungeness. In the
local collection kept by SC most of the maritima, using wing veination, were attributed to saxicola. There
now seems to be doubt with this technique, the only records quoted before 2001 were determined from
genitalia. In recent years we have been recording by sight what we consider to be maritima.
