Ancylolomia
tentaculella
|
Caught by Sean Clancy in KR's trap in Lydd 16th July 2003. The fourth British record, the first being at Dungeness 26th
July 1935. Sean was very pleased that he did Keith's trap in his absence. We presume that it is tentaculella looking at
the picture in Goater's "British Pyralid Moths". In Slamka's "Die Zunslerartigen Mitteleuropas" there are four species of
Ancylolomia figured. This specimen resembles the picture of disparella much more than the picture of tentaculella.
Goater's tentaculella specimen seems to look more like Slamka's disparella. A superb moth, c18mm in length.
